Podere Genova lies exactly between the "Colline metallifere
known for their natural thermal spas and the Monte Amiata, the mountain
of the Maremma. Its peak is more than a mile high and during winter you
might see it snow coveredin fact there are even skiing facilities
present!
It is the highest mountain in southern Tuscany sitting dominantly in
the hilly landscape. It is an experience to wander among the oak and chestnut
trees that stand its slopes. There are views that reach from the highest
peaks of the Apennine to the sea with the islands of Elba and Corsica.
Or do you prefer beach life in summer? Marina di Grosseto or Castiglione
della Pescaia are less than a 45-minute drive away. Stay even closer and
take a refreshing bath in the river Farma only half an hour from Podere
Genova. The river is clean and it offers many private and beautiful spots
next to the thermal spa of Petriolo. If you travel with children and want
to swim in a pool you can arrange to use the 25 meter-swimming pool of
the nearby Castle of Monte Antico for a small fee. Afterwards tour the
old villages and cultural spots in the surroundings and taste the gastronomic
specialities of the Maremma!
To get to Sienna will take you three quarters of an hour, Florence takes
one and a half-hour driving time. To get to Rome takes a little moregoing
there by train from Grosseto is worth considering! For daily shopping
you will find most of the stores in Paganico including a supermarket (15
minutes away).
If you are into sports you will find riding and tennis facilities close
by. There is a golf club at Braccagni, between Grosseto and Follonica.
If you like sailing Follonica with a large and tourist harbour will be
your preferred place!
